As I was created in the midst of Sumatra they rushed me to Holland where I was born as a clean boy in the Hospital of Haarlem.But it was only a few weeks later when I made my first trip back to Medan in an airplane.
It didn’t take a long time before the Japanese warriors took me at the age of 2 along with my mother to many to follow concentration camps in Sumatra and Java.
At the age of 7 we were liberated and send back to Holland on an English freighter where I enjoyed my first taste of coca-cola and oranges.
At the age of 10 we went back to Sumatra where my father had a good job as rubber plantation manager for a jointcompany of Dutch American interrests.
Then I went back at the age of 12 to Holland where I went to Highschool and stayed with my grandparents untill I decided to go work for a year in France to learn my forfathers main Normandian language.
After a year of so I wanted to see the eastside of Canada and went to Vancouver to learn better English.
After having travelled from Quebec to Vancouver I enjoyed hiking all over the country looking for adventure,hiking trough the Rockies was wonderfull but all the way to Alaska was yet more exciting than I ever imagened; bathing in hotsprings on the way to keep clean I went on through Edmonton ,Calgary,Swift current and back through the Rockies to New Westminster over the border to Seatle through California to Mexico and back up north.
In 1962 I flew back to Holland where I joined the army for awhile untill I found good work ;very soon after I got work as a steward on different boats going to Casablanca ,Londen,Napels,Antwerp and so on.
Then on a beautifull day I met my wife Raili Kokkola
